Gynecologic Cancer

Women's Health Matters

September is a special month dedicated to a crucial cause: Gynecologic Cancer Awareness. It's a time when we come together to shed light on the various gynecologic cancers that affect women worldwide and to inspire action towards early detection, prevention, and support for those impacted by these diseases.

These cancers: ovarian, cervical, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar - are relentless foes, but knowledge and awareness can be our greatest allies in the fight against them.

  1. Ovarian Cancer: Unmasking the Silent Killer

Ovarian cancer is often referred to as the "silent killer" because its early symptoms are subtle and can be mistaken for other issues.

  1. Cervical Cancer: Prevention Is the Best Cure

Cervical cancer is highly preventable thanks to the HPV vaccine and regular Pap smears. Here's what you need to know

Cervical cancer, key facts
  1. Uterine/ Endometrial Cancer

Endometrial cancer is often found at an early stage because it causes symptoms. Often the first symptom is irregular vaginal bleeding. If endometrial cancer is found early, surgically removing the uterus often cures it.

Uterine cancer, key facts
  1. Vaginal and Vulvar Cancers: While these cancers are rare, they should not be underestimated. Risk factors may include a history of HPV infection or precancerous changes in the vulva. Early vaccination against HPV and regular gynecologic exams are crucial for prevention.
